Teachers and counselors at New Media Technology Charter School voted 26-3 for representation by the Alliance of Charter School Employees, Local 6056, and AFT Pennsylvania affiliate. New Media's union vote is the first charter school in Pennsylvania to be conducted according to private-sector labor law and overseen by the National Labor Relations Board.

Participants will learn ways to innovate lessons and increase student achievement through the framing and use of questions to promote critical thinking. We will explore theories of thinking and questioning, and practice two strategies students can use in all content areas when responding to questions.

Jameelah West and Debrah Sterling, certified trainers and Philadelphia classroom educators, will lead this hands-on session full of research-based strategies that can help you and your students stretch and develop academically.
